When you know that the end of life is approaching, you may take stock: how has life gone, what was of value to me, what made me happy, what would I have preferred to have done differently?
Your life portrait
For a life portrait, a volunteer will, upon request, have a few (maximum four) conversations with you and write a portrait based on them. The conversations will be about important experiences in your life and what you want to pass on to those who are important to you. The life portrait describes who you are and who or what is meaningful in your life. In the process, your own statements will be included as quotes in the story. The life portrait can take various forms, such as a letter you wish to leave behind or a description of you and your life, captured concisely.
Methodology
- Following registration, one of the volunteer coordinators will make an introductory visit to explain the life portrait and the working method. Based on this conversation, you will decide whether a life portrait is to be created;
- Within 1, a maximum of 2 weeks, the coordinator will link you to a volunteer and carry out the necessary handover. The volunteer will contact you for an initial meeting;
- A short, intensive series of discussions will follow. You will read through the draft version for feedback prior to completion;
- Upon completion, you will receive one hard copy of the text and a USB memory stick containing the document.
Costs
None.
Duration
