As a discussion group facilitator, you play a valuable role. Together with a colleague, you prepare the group meeting and invite the participants. When the participants arrive, there is coffee and tea with something to go with it for them. You ensure a safe atmosphere in which everyone feels heard and seen. You guide the discussion around the chosen theme. In doing so, listening to one another is paramount. The themes that are discussed are coordinated with the group.

You are not alone: you will receive training in facilitating discussion groups and regular support. This offers the opportunity to develop yourself further. Experience is not necessary. Your interest in people, affinity with group work and willingness to listen are the most important things.
